Yoga provides a wonderful way to unite the mind, body and spirit which brings us closer to our true nature or being. The word yoga originates from the Sanskrit word yuj which is often translated to mean “to unite or to bind.” The history of yoga is vast and dates back over 5.000 years. By learning the various breathing techniques and poses of yoga (asanas) that have been handed down through the generations, the mind, body and spirit may become better centered, balanced and purified. Derek Lin, author of The Tao of Daily Life, describes being present in this way: “As you follow your plan of action to live mindfully in the moment, you will find it easier and easier to stop dwelling in the past or worrying excessively about the future.” You will find that the present is literally a wonderful present. It is a miraculous gift filled with peace, contentment, energy and excitement.” At Let It Be Yoga,® based in Friendswood, Texas, a variety of yoga styles are shared in class. Generally, we practice what is considered Hatha Yoga. We enjoy a bit of meditation and quieting the mind, stretching, asanas (prone and standing poses), and relaxation.
